Purpose
Project Manager required to lead client facing international and specialist development projects for our data capture client. Reporting to the team’s Senior Project Manager you will take responsibility for delivering high profile projects as well as providing business process re-engineering support as part of a continuous improvement programme.
Candidates will have demonstrable experience of managing software development projects in .Net, C# and SQL 2005 environments ideally including international stakeholders and involving overseas work. An accredited project manager your awareness of system design will probably have come from previous business analyst roles. This will be complemented by experience of delivery of business process re-engineering within a client-facing environment. You will be fully conversant with MS Office applications ideally including Visio. An excellent communicator (both written and oral) you can work with little direction and be comfortable delegating work. Above all you should be able to quickly grasp the technical and commercial aspects of a project.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the development team of a market leading product. The nature of this role means that some international travel will be required and as a consequence conversational ability in a modern foreign language would be desirable.
- Identify, mobilise and manage project team members to ensure the effective delivery of software development projects
- Produce and maintain plans and other project management documentation to agreed standards.
- Hold regular reviews with the project team in order to monitor, control and report on progress
- Manage project team in order to estimate work content and skill requirements for project tasks.
- Manage external delivery teams.
- Actively manage conflict, risks, issues, quality and changes, only escalating when they cannot be directly resolved
- Organise and facilitate design workshops with both internal and external customers.
- Document system design and process models, making effective use of tools and best practice methods.
Skills
- PRINCE2 practitioner or APMP qualified, with proven working knowledge of project management concepts and tools
- Proven experience of managing software development projects
- Software development background (ideally in .Net, C# and SQL 2005)
- Sufficient awareness (and potentially previous practical experience) of product/application development, database system design, data management, data capture, data validation, process design and software development
- Experience of managing and motivating teams, stakeholders and external suppliers
- Able to analyse and solve problems that impact upon the delivery of projects and propose and manage initiatives that will contribute to business success
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to grasp what is required and to work to a brief autonomously but with effective reporting mechanisms
- Proven use of MS Office standard applications including MS Project. Experience of using Visio desirable.
