Purpose
Programme Manager required to lead an industry wide low carbon transport initiative for government backed consortium. Your primary aim is demonstrate the potential efficiencies available within specific areas of the transport sector to encourage commercial acceptance. Managing an annual budget of £5m you will look to maximise business benefits through a range of partners and consortia members.
Candidates will have demonstrable experience of implementing low carbon initiatives within the commercial vehicle (on/off-road, marine or rail) sector. This will be complemented by a thorough understanding of low carbon technologies as well as the wider sustainability agenda. Coming from a research, development and demonstration background you will be comfortable negotiating contracts that exploit the business potential of technological innovations. A qualified Programme Manager you will have evidence of successfully delivering a large scale/collaborative programme.
Key responsibilities
- Establish a procurement/commissioning process for the programme in collaboration with colleagues across the business
- Build the consortia membership to enable effective project delivery and the development of research proposals that meet the organisational benefits.
- Negotiate contract terms in conjunction with legal orientated colleagues.
- Manage the Programme to audit and risk strategies ensuring all benefits are realised.
- Present findings on a regular basis to internal and external audiences

Skills
- Conduct feasibility studies in regards to the usage of new technologies taking into account cost and maturity levels
- Look to integrate systems within the CV and operational environment
- Produce robust business cases in line with projects in the pipeline
- Address supply chain issues, improving efficiencies and reducing cost etc.
- Degree in Engineering or Science (or equivalent experience)
- Structured approach to delivery ideally with MSP or similar
- Demonstrable experience of delivering large collaborative programmes of work
- Exposure to the tendering process with an emphasis on meeting regulatory standards
- Regular status reporting and presentations to senior management
