Project Management Roles

Project Management Roles We Recruit

What is Project Management?

Project Management, as defined by the Association for Project Management,  "is the process by which projects are defined, planned, monitored, controlled and delivered such that the agreed benefits are realised. Projects are unique, transient endeavours undertaken to achieve a desired outcome. Projects bring about change and project management is recognised as the most efficient way of managing such change."

There is still much debate about the profession of project management, currently an application is underway for the profession to achieve Charted Status, much like engineers, doctors or accountants. For many it is still viewed as just another string to the bow for any general manager but as projects become more and more complex, there has been an increased need for experienced managers who specialise purely in projects.

Project management does not just mean project managers, there are also many supporting roles like project co-ordinator, project planner, configuration librarian etc. The phrase "project management" will also be used to collectively include roles such as Programme Manager or Portfolio Managers; generally the acronym PPM will be used which means "Programme & Project Management"
