Senior Project Manager

Purpose: Senior Project Manager required to join a leading supplier of logistics services. Operating across all market sectors, our client has experienced consistent growth and is now looking for a professional individual to lead a portfolio of high value projects for UK market leaders.

You will take ownership of a number of supply chain management projects, establish the project structure, resources, roles, and responsibilities and lead your team of 20-40 to implement solutions and deliver to your client. As the primary customer interface you will possess the management and interpersonal skills to not only manage your team but also to liaise with your client at the highest level and with a ‘no surprises’ approach. As a champion for project management you will re-enforce the client’s commitment to professionalism by inspiring your team to follow the structured approach to project management to which you are accustomed. Your knowledge and expertise ideally gained in a supply chain/logistics environment will add value whilst your commercial acumen and ability to quickly interpret contractual obligations will assure your ability to deliver profitably whilst working with clients whose budgetary controls have redefined UK industry.

** Location for this role is flexible but the ability to travel to offices in Northampton/Wiltshire on a weekly basis is required **

  • Ensuring intelligent application of the project management framework
  • Providing strategic guidance to project managers and project teams
  • Leading or supporting the development of business cases or bid activity in a project management capacity
  • Undertaking the role of project manager on specific supply chain projects
  • Managing project managers within the department or other direct line reports as required
  • Ensuring that the departmental approach to project management is consistently applied to all projects
  • Promoting a culture and environment within the business conducive to successful projects
  • Promoting an integrated cross business project team approach and a commitment to team working principles
  • Upholding the need for a thorough and detailed project planning process
  • Communicating project status to stakeholders
  • Representing the project management department in customer reviews
  • Managing project management resources and costs within agreed budgets and timescales
  • Contributing to the development of project management capabilities and in defining service offerings to the business
  • Coaching and mentoring direct line reports and other project managers in the business where appropriate
