Project Support Officer (Railway Operations)

Purpose: Our Client, one of the World’s leading providers of professional engineering consultancy services, is looking for two Project Support Officers to join their organisation in a permanent role.

The PSOs will be working within the Project Office (centre of excellence) and providing robust support for the project management team.

The role is to provide a wide range of project support services including planning and cost management, reporting, project and programme governance, change management, performance improvement and project system solutions. This role is ideally suited to a Project Support Officer with prior experience within this field who is keen to gain advanced skills in Project Office.


Key Requirements;

  • Understand how projects should be set up and run in order to support the planning, monitoring and control of projects and programmes of work
  • Understand the risk management, issue management and change control procedures to maintain, update and revise the scope of projects and programmes of work
  • Providing robust reporting mechanisms which will allow greater control across the lifecycle and across multiple projects and programmes
  • Ability to collate information to provide an information, estimation and performance service to the project, programme and business
  • Understanding of budgetary requirements and the ability to control cost through establishing the project cost plan and record all data such as financial transactions, commitments, value of work done and costs incurred


This is an excellent opportunity for any dedicated PMO professional looking for a varied role in the rail industry whilst working within a consultancy organisation. You will have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a project management, programme management, commercial management or business management environment, also proven hands on PMO experience. The ideal candidate will possess a degree or HND in engineering, business applied sciences or similar.

Skills:

  • 4+ years plus strong experienced project management office skills – a good all rounder in areas such as planning, reporting, risks, issues, change etc
  • Project Management Accreditations / Training i.e., PRINCE2 etc – highly desirable
  • Experienced in using a variety of project management tools i.e., MS Project / Primavera etc
  • Use to working in a fast moving environment
  • Comprehension of issues and risk, ability to propose solutions and comprehend the impact of the risk and their mitigation
  • Be adaptable to any programme, project environment
  • Self disciplined
  • Ability to write project plans and proposals
  • Strong Administration skills
  • Able to travel, if needed to
