Project Manager - Police Service

Purpose: 2 years fixed term contract Project Manager required for this public sector organisation. Candidates should be experienced in working to the PRINCE2 method and have experience specifically within public service organisations. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing ICT and business management projects and should have demonstrable experience across the lifecycle and of managing multiple projects.

Key accountabilities include;

  • Takes responsibility for the definitions, documentation and safe execution of complex projects, directing and counselling project team members, and advising clients/users as necessary on all phases
  • Prepares and maintains realistic project, quality, and risk plans, including plans incorporating sub-projects, and monitors and controls team performance against each plan, providing reports to client/user management and senior management as required
  • Monitors and controls allocated human and material resources, associated revenue costs and all capital costs against the project budget. Ensures that the change control procedure is adhered to, and actively used to assess the effect of changes to the projects on costs, timescale and/or resource needs and reports these to project sponsors
  • Leads and manages the project team

Candidates should have prior experience within the public sector, be PRINCE2 accredited (to Practitioner level), has excellent understanding of project management principles, processes and tools.

  • Maintaining focus on agreed objectives and deliverables whatever the circumstances
  • Understanding the hierarchy and culture of own, customer and supplier organisations and being able to identify the decision makers and influencers
