Project Manager - Manufacturing

Purpose: Project Managers with experience of manufacturing required to contribute to the high added value aerospace sector. Opportunities are available at all professional levels across sites in Southern England and Cheshire to lead the build and commissioning of mission critical components and systems.

You have experience of high added value manufacturing environments ideally in the aerospace, defence or space industry sectors. Comfortable with modern manufacturing approaches (i.e. Lean and Agile) your project management skills are complemented with knowledge of ERP, MRPII or MRP as a minimum. In addition you will aspire to deliver in a customer focussed quality driven environment.

You are most likely a professional engineer, either working towards or already a member of an associated engineering body. Your ability to work, and potentially lead, in a team environment is complemented by your demonstrable verbal and written communication skills. These roles require frequent travel throughout the UK and occasionally overseas. The nature of the work will require security vetting.

Typical responsibilities:

  • Materials requirements planning (MRP)
  • Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)
  • Capacity planning and scheduling
  • Design and management of work flow process
  • Close working relationship with technicians, engineers and engineering management
  • Business improvement focused on stock policy for advanced
  • Preparation of detailed programme plan, including schedule, milestones and costs
  • Implementation of the programmes working closely with stakeholders within the company (including senior management) and with key internal suppliers
  • Negotiation with key suppliers on stock policy, including funding strategy

Skills:

  • HNC/HND in engineering or business management discipline
  • Lean manufacturing tools e.g. 5S, TPM, SMED, kaizan, kanban, poka-yoke, muda
