Purpose: Our public sector client is looking to appoint a contract Project Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of a “Dash Board”. Working with the information management & technology projects (IM&T) projects within their Informatics department you will have a key responsibility to deliver this high visibility report.
With in excess of 5 years directly related information technology development projects experience you will have a demonstrable track record of managing projects within an Informatics Group to ensure delivery of the Annual Health check Dashboard through taking full responsibility for the project implementation.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the delivery of the Annual Health check Dashboard projects within our clients Informatics department
- Shaping and planning the projects in a realistic and robust manner
- Ensuring that project is delivered within agreed timescales, scope, quality and budget
- Planning, organising and monitoring the project resources to ensure efficient and effective use of resources whilst delivering results
- Managing a combination of internal and external project staff, consultants and vendors to achieve the agreed objectives
- Influence the project sponsors at all levels in the decision making process and strategic direction of projects
- Planning, developing and maintaining a strategic direction to the project
- Maintaining relationships on an ongoing basis with a variety of internal and external project stakeholders to ensure understanding and commitment
- Interfacing with other Informatics project teams to ensure the overall objectives for the Dashboard are achieved
- Managing and operating correct governance of the project
- Ensuring that risks are managed effectively including risk identification, assessment and the implementation of mitigation plans
- Identify and address issues and problems which could impact on project success, escalating issues and risks where appropriate
- Working in close liaison with our clients programme management to ensure all quality and audit criteria are met

Skills:
- Have at least five years demonstrable experience of managing information technology development projects supporting business change programmes across the whole lifecycle
- Familiarity with web-based information delivery and information mining
- Experience in developing solutions based on service-oriented architectures
- Delivery focussed with a pragmatic approach to setting project priorities
- Experience in a PRINCE 2 project management environment
- Have experience of managing projects within a larger programme
- Have at least five years experience working collaboratively and managing a mixture of internal and external agencies and staff
- Have experience of managing and working with senior and executive management
- Possess excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- Have the ability to develop and maintain effective and credible relationships with business leaders and supplier management
- A customer service orientation that enables the candidate to be an advocate for a delivery culture
- Be well organised, self motivated and attention to detail
- Have the ability and desire to transfer knowledge to co-workers

Person Specification:
- Exposure to and experience with public sector IT programmes
- Exposure to structured/peer review processes ideally including the Office for Government Commerce Gateway process
- Have experience of managing procurement processes including the negotiation of contracts and contribute to the agreement of terms and conditions

Attained certification in a recognised project management methodology, e.g. PRINCE practitioner or demonstrate detailed knowledge of project management methodologies
