Project Manager - Restaurants Expansion
Purpose: This is an excellent opportunity to work for a well known world wide “eating experience” organisation who are looking for a good Project Manager to plan and manage the set up of new restaurants and the refurbishment of existing locations. Working with a small group of the company’s senior managers.
Reporting to the managing director you are likely to have an engineering background in support of your project management expertise in the restaurant or hotel business. As part of the expansion programme the main duties will be;
- Overall management of the development of new sites
- To manage relationships between project management the company and Partners, and contractor performance.
- To be responsible for company-wide technical services and asset management of the properties estate
- Overall be responsible for the co-ordination and liaison between managers and suppliers/contractors on new projects and refits.
- Be responsible for the satisfactory completion of small projects and refits as directed.

- Support the company expansion; assess potential sites for engineering, structural and operational suitability and occasionally to source sites. Provide the necessary input for shell specification as well as input to the legal team

To plan, monitor and control new projects through their various stages of implementation. Assemble project teams, appoint, brief and direct all members of the professional team and provide operational assistance to designers, including:
- Carry out all aspects of the tender process ensuring required quality levels and budget restrictions are considered
- Specific responsibility for ensuring licensing is applied for
- Working with the organisation and Partners to develop layouts, plans and working drawings
- Developing project timetables and programmes
- Ensuring contractors on site meet their deadlines and highlight any areas where timescales may slip, well in advance
- Ensuring contractors carry out work to specifications agreed and consulting with appointed professionals to ascertain that quality standards are achieved
- Manage all Head Office resources where directly relevant to the operational design and until such times as the General Manager and their team is on board and thereafter provide the GM with the necessary level of support
- Reporting on progress on a regular basis to the GM involved, again highlighting any discrepancies, changes or deviations from the original programme agreed
- Compile budget drafts and business plans for all projects
- Work with capital budgets and support the negotiation of contracts and professional fees as directed and within budgetary restrictions. Also draw up the areas of responsibility for professional appointments and contractor selection
- Establish and produce specifications for heavy and loose equipment and liaise with the Purchasing Department on ordering and delivery, ensuring any timescale changes are notified immediately
- To be accountable for the physical integrity of all facilities, manage and maintain the value of the company’s assets, including the provision of technical support and guidance to the Maintenance Managers and GMs
- To provide a clear communication process and support performance management of the maintenance function and support the recruitment of Maintenance Managers
- Under the direction of the Board, carry out any ad hoc projects as required including refurbishment and remedial works if so requested. To be fully responsible for ensuring these projects are completed on time and with budgets set
- Advise on general planning and logistics as required
- To produce a comprehensive annual review of heavy plant within all restaurants. Ensure the Maintenance Teams are updated on all major industrial and legislative changes affecting their remits.

Salary Guide: £55,000 plus 5% pension contribution, Private Medical, permanent health, death in service.

Skills:
- 3 to 5 years Project management experience in the leisure and hospitality sector dealing with the planning, implementation and commissioning of new restaurants and kitchens
- Responsibility for everything from licensing and planning permission to the opening event
- Project accounting and reporting
- Have pragmatic experience of using a project methodology to control project
- Likely to have an engineering background supporting
