It had become apparent within the group corporate pensions schemes at Watson Wyatt there was a requirement for a good coordinator to come on board. During initial discussions it was indicated that previous relations with recruitment agencies were not that positive - low quality CVs, CVs that were unscreened and unchecked, often sending over CV’s taken from large CV websites without consulting the candidates beforehand etc. Phew! Arras were happy to buck that trend and get back to basics - providing good quality candidates all interviewed and screened before shortlisting to Watson Wyatt.

This was a replacement role, as the current coordinator was due to go on maternity leave, which meant timescales were tight if Arras People were to help Watson Wyatt ensure a successful handover of financial project coordinator duties.
In addition, the client had been presented with a number of candidates from other agencies which either had the financial services experience or the project support experience – it was important to get the blend of both.
Meeting the Challenge of the New Role Assigned To Us
At Arras People, we have a dedicated team of project management practitioners who have been retrained to project management recruitment. The process in place involves a stringent 30-60min telescreen with prospective candidates – this is executed via a competency-based interview. Having explored the candidates' experience and skills, it was necessary within the process to ensure the correct blend of project experience and sector knowledge from the candidates and also bear in mind the time constraints.
