Staffordshire County Council & Arras
Reputation Spurs a Satisfied Public Body

"The client was impressed with our track record of delivering good staff quickly."
Staffordshire County Council is the biggest employer in Staffordshire, with a total working staff of more than 30,000. The job sectors covered by Staffordshire range from education and engineering to science and social work, as they provide for the county of Staffordshire and their population of around 800,000 people each week with vital, essential services. Arras People aimed to provide Staffordshire County Council with ample local government project management recruitment expertise and knowledge.
Arras People and the Public Sector
Arras People have worked directly with a range of public sector entities, ranging from county and metropolitan governements to health, fire and police services for the purposes of solid project & programme management recruitment. With regard to the length of time allotted for the position, Staffs County Council needed a Public Sector Senior Project Manager for a three-month contract, whose responsibilities for the role included the implementation of a major SAP system in conjunction with an outside client for Staffordshire CC.
Whatever the Length of the Task, Arras People Hones In On Quality Candidates
Arras maintains an active candidate database for local government project management recruitment, which covers all UK areas and industry sectors; for short term contract roles its important we ensure that jobseekers details are current so placements can be made quickly with available contractors specialising in public sector project management.
This three-month role fit the bill perfectly.
"The role was a standard contractor assignment in many ways," he said. "The standard Arras People process was used to source the candidate shortlist."
One ofthe three candidates Holmes submitted made it through to the one-stage interview process with Staffordshire County Council. Immediately after, the candidate was offered the role, which he duly accepted.
"The process was fairly straight-forward, stress free, quick and overall successful," said Holmes.
Our Work Doesn't Just End With a Placement
Staffordshire County Council had never worked directly before with Arras People, but Gary's determination and thorough management of the process left a good impression.
"They chose to come directly to us on this occasion because of our track record," said Holmes. "They were impressed with our track record of delivering good staff quickly."
Arras People's registered and vetted candidate database is obviously the main draw for new and existing clients; a lot of project management professionals are not as active in searching out vacancies and opportunities on job boards - mainly due to the time involved and the frustrations in dealing with multiple agents. The Arras database is a healthy mix of current jobseeking contract staff - permanent employees actively looking for a new role and those professionals who are happy to wait until their dream role comes along.
Procurement PM
Wycombe District Council have worked with Arras People for a number of years; using cost effective project management recruitment solutions to bring on board project professionals on a contract basis. A procurement and tendering project manager was required for a fixed term to drive through a new leisure facility project. Coming on board at the tendering stage, the project manager worked with the council's procurement specialists to manage the OJEC process through to completion.
Experiencing PSL Problems?

Croydon Council approached Arras People outside of their Preferred Suppliers List (PSL) because they were struggling to find the right kind of PMO and P3O staff. Croydon Council is a large local government organisation in South East London, and they were undergoing a period of widespread change. This groundswell of sweeping alterations included the Council's approach to programme and project management. Read more about our work with Croydon Council.
