Project Office Quality Assurance

The Project Office Quality Assurance role is focused on providing quality management support at project level and also within the project office function.

On individual projects, there is a requirement to ensure quality management is planned and managed throughout the delivery of the project.

The Quality Assurance role will work closely with the Project Manager to: ensure a robust quality management plan is in place; that the projects deliverables; and/or, products are assured and that the project sign off in respect to quality is fully managed.

To have a full time project office quality assurance resource would be considered a luxury in many organisations however, organisations that manage ongoing large and complex programmes of work opt for a dedicated resource which in turn frees up their project managers to do what they do best - manage projects.

In some organisations, the role of quality assurance may be picked up by an experienced project support role - like the project office co-ordinator or project office analyst. With additional training in quality assurance, these supporting roles can extend their services comfortably. The Project Office Quality Assurance role will also be responsible for setting processes, procedures and policies for use across an organisation's entire project management department.

The quality assurance lead will ensure new  (and updates to existing) quality management processes are rolled out and managed effectively. The Quality Assurance lead will naturally provide a central point of contact for the project management organisation in areas such as training, support and one-to-one advice
