P3O - Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices - What is it?
P3O is the new guidance from the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) specifically for programme and project offices. Like other OGC methods (PRINCE2, MSP, MoR), the P3O will provide a point of reference for organisations and personnel who work within a Programme or Project Office.
The P3O guidance was officially launched on the 28th October 2008
with training courses and accreditation schemes following shortly

Following the launched many PMO professionals will be thinking - what now? The PPSOSIG (Programme and Project Support Office Specialist Interest Group) announced the details of its next conference on the 18th March 2009. "P3O Examined - What does it mean for your PPSO?" will bring together 100 PMO professionals from a variety of organisations and sectors to hear from the lead author of P3O, case studies from organisations that are utilising P3O, learn more about the links to P3M3 and gain an insight to the P3O examinations and accreditations.
We'll also be reviewing P3O in relation to recruitment and asking the question - "What does the introduction of P3O mean to the PMO marketplace?". Check back for our news and views.
