Visit Arras People at the Best Practice Showcase
May 26th
The Best Practice Showcase for 2010 is now open for bookings and Arras People will be there both exhibiting and hosting a table of debates throughout the day.
Last years event saw over 500 project management professionals come together on a sunny day in June to hear project management seminars and take part in “Birds of a Feather” sessions.
The “Birds of a Feather” sessions run throughout the day and are an excellent way to not only get involved with current project management thinking but also act as a great way to network with your peers. This year Arras People are running two themed sessions throughout the day;
How to differentiate yourself in the marketplace when looking for the next career opportunity
With the UK private sector slowly showing signs of economic recovery and the continued uncertainty in the public sector, the UK job marketplace has seen a number of changes which have impacted the job seeker. In this session we explore the changes, such as;
* What are employers looking for now in their project management hires?
* How can you improve the way you represent yourself tried and tested methods Vs doing things differently
* Hints, tips and advice on how to differentiate yourself from the competition in the recruitment process focused on CVs, interviews, where to look for opportunities.
Delegates will leave the session having gained an insight into how the recruitment market has changed over the last three years and the steps they need to take to ensure success when looking to secure their next project management opportunity
How will Professional status change the job market for PPM Practitioners?
With the Association for Project Management (APM) having applied for chartered status on behalf of the UKs project Management Community we would like to explore how this may impact the future marketplace here in the UK.Using the APMs 5 dimensions of professionalism model as the backdrop to the session we would like to explore the potential implications for us all.
- Are we ready to present ourselves within the new framework?
- Are employers going to understand?
- Will it mean bigger remuneration packages?
- Will it become pervasive or just an exclusive club?
We look to explore these critical topics with you in terms of;
- Breadth
- Depth
- Achievement
- Commitment
- Accountability
Whether you are an employer of project management practitioners or indeed a practitioner we would like to hear your views on this potentially game changing initiative. Delegates will leave this session having debated and discussed the potential impacts of professionalization and how this may impact their careers.
