Twittering about Projects Part III

It’s been a while since we last talked about Twitter and project management here at the Camel but the new #pmot Daily Newspaper just made me want to share with everyone just how fab it is.

In the last Twittering about Projects we covered the hashtags for project management – the #pmot – that’s project management on twitter – this is by far the most popular one and project managers around the world are sharing information using this hashtag.

Now there’s a new tool on the block – the paper.li – which basically works by picking up all the popular tweets (posts) that feature the #pmot and reproduces them in an easy to read newspaper format – clever eh?. The newspaper – like Twitter – updates and refreshes regularly – every 24 hours, so it’s just like having a daily newspaper of project management available for you to read. I love it, I think its a great little tool to use to keep up to date with what people are talking about and sharing, even if you don’t use Twitter all day everyday; it’s great for people who aren’t “into” Twitter – so you can see what kind of information you’re missing out on; anyone can feature in the newspaper who uses the hashtag #pmot and who’s tweets are deemed to be popular. Take a look at the #pmot Daily.

Arrgh Information Overload

Of course, Twitter is great for sharing project management blog pieces, news content, whitepapers, links etc etc but sometimes it can feel like information overload, which is where Read it Later comes in.

Read It Later is a little like a bookmark service; create a free account and make sure you add the service to your PC browser and also your smartphone. It’s also available as an app for iPhone and iPad. Read It Later is not only for Twitter content but for any websites you browse.  When you’re viewing content that you would like to “read later” you can then bookmark it for viewing – both off and online. Easy! Now I just have to find a quiet couple of hours to catch up on everything that I bookmarked :)

If you have any recommendations or other cool tools we should know about, share them by posting a comment; I hate not knowing what I’m missing out on :)
