Tuh tuh another wasted few hours

Just been to the BPPM show at the NEC, had thousands of emails promoting this event over the last few months so I thought OK, I’ve not been to one for a while so I’ll go and have a look – I could be missing out on something here.

Wrong. I wasn’t.

The BPPM (the project management part of the event) runs alongside a software show (software for accountancy, payroll etc) and it was the smaller part of the exhibition (the project management stuff was hidden away at the back of the hall). Now the exhibition itself has a title of “Softworld” which is fair enough – majority of the exhibitors were software organisations, what didn’t make sense was the Project Management bit. The Project Management part had a few software organisations but there was also trade magazines, training organisations, consultancy businesses etc. It just didn’t flow, it was like the PM part was an after thought – oh I know there’s a bit of space at the back of the hall – what shall we put in it??

There also wasn’t a lot of exhibitors – especially coming so soon after the Project Challenge I guess people will attend one or the other and it seems that BPPM might become a poor relation.

One tip given by a client was the Best Practice Showcase – a different event altogether and not so much an exhibition but nevertheless a trip worth taking

Interestingly both Project Challenge and Best Practice do publish the seminar presentations after the event so if you did miss them here they are:

Project Challenge Presentations

Best Practice Showcase 2005

And Best Practice Showcase 2006
