Last Year was a first for Arras People, attending the hugely successful BPUG (Best Practice User Group) International Congress.
Experienced speakers discussed challenges faced in their organizations during the two-day conference and demonstrated tried and tested PM tools and techniques. Specialist consultants and training companies were on hand in the exhibition area on a series of roundtables and clinics for those needing advice and guidance. See Off to London to see the BPUG from last year.
The highlight of the event was a gala dinner where delegates were able to socialize and network; discussing the higlights from the day.
In the past we have seen speakers such as Liz Underhill, Programme Manager for the London Olympic Games talking about progress on planning for the games.
This year Arras People will not only be attending but also exhibiting at the BPUG Congress. Arras will be providing 1-2-1 feedback sessions on CV’s and advice on the current Project and Programme management climate. Arras will also share newly released information on issues PM professionals are currently facing from their 2010 Project Management Benchmark Report. Now in its fifth year, the 2010 Report takes an in-depth look at current issues and hot topics within the PPM field, issues such as work/life balance, gender equality, public vs. private sector, training and accreditation, along with data points on salaries, remuneration and market rates.
‘’I attended the Congress last year for the first time and found the experience to be very informative with some excellent speakers. I also liked the format of being able to choose what I wanted to hear about in the afternoon sessions. There was also time during presentations to catch up with familiar faces, both other delegates and also some of the exhibiting companies. Due to the relative intimate nature of the event i.e., all the delegates are in effect holed up for two days, it was much easier to have meaningful conversations than at some of the other conference and exhibitions I’ve attended in the past’’. Lindsay Scott
The BPUG (Best Practice User Group) is of course focused on the OGC suite of project management products i.e., PRINCE2, MSP etc and the Congress is a great way to be brought up to speed on current best practice thinking. The presentations are aimed at showing the practitioner the realities of how best practice project management translates to successful project delivery. There is also ample opportunity to talk to the speakers afterwards if there is anything of note which you’d like to know more about. All in all, one of the best PPM conferences in the UK today.
