Programme & Project Support Office Roles and Experience

A number of companies are implementing Programme and Project Support Offices and as you might imagine they have a need for key staff to actively manage the direction and remit of the relevant PPSO. These roles are generally working at board level with the PPSO reporting directly to the Managing Director, they require a first class service coordinating and reporting of a number of different projects running throughout the organisations.

Roles within Project and Programme offices are on the increase, we think it well well worth considering this area of projects as a good career move and well worth developing skills and experience in these fast developing roles. Key requirements we see are:

  • Programme/Project integration planning
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed project plans.
  • Search out and management of risks and issues,
  • Maintenance of change control, quality and configuration documents
  • Developing of applicable processes & procedures.
  • Manage a vast portfolio of projects
  • Report, identify and create appropriate reports to all stakeholders
  • Financial Reporting and management
  • Management of the business cases against deliverables
  • Assist with Change Management process as required
  • Implement/assist with configuration / process and resource management.

At Arras People we are interested to know what type of person – soft skills as well as background experience may be suitable for PPSO PMO roles. We feel that quite often people in customer facing roles with good administrative skills are suited to programme and project roles – what else is key?
