PPSOSIG Celebrates 10th Anniversary.

Last week saw the tenth anniversary of the PPSOSIG, the interest group dedicated to Programme and Project support professionals. Taking place in Coventry, the event was a chance for members and enthusiasts to get together and celebrate the achievements of the past decade in PMO, whilst sharing experiences and learning from industry experts about the relevant issues in the field right now.

The conference promised to bring together some of the most popular speakers and presenters from the last 10 years, and over the 2 days we were treated to seminars and interactive sessions from the likes of Sue Vowler (P3O author), Peter Taylor (The Lazy Project Manager) and Melanie Franklin (MD of Maven Training), amongst others.

What is always great about the PPSOSIG events is that the organizers are always keen to make the event as interactive as possible and encourage delegates to get to know one another and share experiences. This year’s event was no exception, with interactive sessions from the likes of Donnie MacNicol and the team at Dylanmae proving particularly engaging.

For anyone thinking of attending the next event, tentatively arranged for next March in Cheltenham, I can honestly say that if you decide to attend you will be greeted with an open, encouraging and friendly atmosphere. Perhaps most importantly, I didn’t speak to one delegate over the 2 days who hadn’t found some aspect of the conference useful in terms of being able to take what they had learned back into their everyday PMO lives. I don’t think you can get a better endorsement than that.

Given the changing times and the constant evolution of PPSO’s, the committee have recently been working hard to re-brand the PPSOSIG into the PMOsig, so I’m sure that you will be hearing much more from them over the coming months and years, not only with the twice yearly conferences, but also local branch events that will be accessible for everyone.
