OGC – Gateway review information is not publically available!

I can ‘t believe what I have just read in Computing (26/4/2007) . The OGC Gateway review data is not available, the output from the extensive reviews are not made public, they are “kept under wraps” e.g. the Rural Payments debacle. It is suggested that if the reports from the “Red reviews” for the Rural Payments Gateway reviews had been made available the £22m shortfall in payments and the overall late payment mess may have been averted. Instead the civil servants were therefore allowed to plough on regardless not knowing that issues had been raised in their project
This stupidity makes me hoping mad!

  • The inconvenience to the farming community and their suppliers
  • The secrecy around public payment projects
  • The money spent to undertake the Gateway review – a solid process whose outcome was just ignored!

What other examples like this of knowledge being held back causing pubic projects to fail?
