I have been trying to understand how SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises) could contribute and benefit form the London Olympics in 2012. Britain won the bid in July 2006 and since then various organisations have been beavering away putting meat on the bones.
Today I wend to a conference where Lord Coe was the guest speaker; he explained to approximately 200 attendees (mostly government agency representatives with a small number of SMEs) more about the London Olympic 2012 activity and organisation. It was a well organized and informative meeting and I will add more notes and updates to this blog as we at at Arras People unravel the elephant one bite at a time.
The main breakthrough for me today is that Seb Coe is the Chairman of LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) and he is responsible with his board at LOCOG for the 60 or so days that the actual Olympics and Paralympics take place i.e. the the events!
Closely associated is another organisation called the ODA (Olympic Development Authority)The ODA was established by the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act, which received Royal Assent in March 2006, their role is to put into place everything you need to run an Olympic games in London.
So in summery the ODA build it for their customer LOCOG. Have I got it right …more to follow ….
