That social delight that is Charlie Sheen has even overtaken the running theme behind the headlines for our regular series on the many ways one can use Arras People’s website effectively. He is inescapable and fail-proof; we cannot measure up to his level of power. Those of you who may recall the first installment will remember that “use us” was a take on the song “Use Me” by the irrepressible Bill Withers. And if you think Charlie Sheen tests higher on the “Cool-O-Meter” (yes, there is such a thing!) than Bill Withers, folks, I give up*.
At any rate, you’ve had three prior looks inside the website that was re-formulated last August, so the idea of showing you around the site is not all about introducing something new. Rather, it’s about taking you into the mechanism and helping you appreciate what its there for and what it can mean to your objectives and goals.
Here’s what we’ve pointed out to you prior to today:
- Candidate Paths
- Careers Clinics
JobSearch Support Service**- Training Directory
- Salary & Day Rate
- Graduate Advice
- Social Media
- Sectors We Recruit In
- PM Bookshop
- Jobs Breakdown

Installment four begins now.
- Industry Notes
One of the ways we like to make our expertise visible for the greater good of our project brethren is through our Programe and Project Management (PPM) Industry Notes. This expertise shines through in some of the trade mags, specific white papers drawing on research from the PM Benchmark Reports, press release and other PPM outlets that may not necessarily provide for online readers. We’ve collated all of these dating to 2008 at a single portal to give those of you keen on the up-to-date realities of the project management marketplace of ideas and practices. - Project Management Tipoffs: Podcast Version
Now for a little mugging from yours truly. We set up a podcast version of our acclaimed PM Tipoffs newsletter in March 2010 to give those of you on the go an eco-friendly taste of the knowledge you subscribe to each month. No telling how much paper your company might have saved from it. And as ever, we look to improve, striving for the best in sound quality, the relevant topical memes of project management & recruitment at large, and – gasp – music? Subscribe and stay tuned. - Professional Memberships
Staying relevant in all things project management & recruitment can’t just be said and ignored: we make it a point to tell you what we’ve done and share our abilities as an accredited organisation. So we’ve dedicated a page to telling you all about the important professional bodies and quality standards we’re a part of. The list is solid and seems to go on for awhile, but they’re examples of the reputation we’ve earned, experience that’s can’t just be bought. - Job Applications Guide
We make our advice on filling in Job Applications available in both webpage and in PDF format for our readers. Frankly, there is an absolute treasure chest of tidbits within this free collection of sage advice. Helpful things like skills you can emphasize, a sample of a speculative letter, links to tips on application forms, and even the right way and wrong way to call up a recruiter. - Register with Arras People
This is for those of you who want to send us a speculative CV with regard to the roles we have available. If you want to get noticed for some of the vacancies we have on file as they’ve just come in, registering with us puts you in our database that allows us to find you first before we look elsewhere. This isn’t a guarantee, remember: if you can apply for the role as well, you’re interest in the role is on display and may save our consultants the need to troll for a winner.
We should have more of these available for you at a later date, so stay tuned to the Camel. And put on some Withers when you get home…goodness knows I need to.
*-Seriously, people: the man held held a note like nobody’s business. But if you think the intro was all about riding the SEO social media train that is clearly out of control, well…I won’t rebut.
**-Sadly, the Job Search Support Service for Newly Unemployed Professionals provision that had been available through the JobCentre Plus is no longer be available.
