Extraordinary Project Managers Apply Within

The Association for Project Management (APM) cut the ribbon on the Registered Project Professional (RPP) this week, the RPP being the new level of visibility for practising project professionals in the UK. The RPP is being marketed as “the standard for extraordinary project professionals” and the APM chairman called it “the new gold standard against which true professionals in project management will be measured

The website now features the comprehensive process that potential RPP candidates will have to go through in order to be selected for interview and ultimately be approved  onto the register.

What is the process?

  1. “The RPP is open to anyone with experience of managing others in a complex project environment regardless of their professional background or qualifications.”
You need to take a look at the complex project environment spreadsheet to see if you qualify
  2. You need to complete the application form
The first part of the form is not too dissimilar to the one needed to become a member of the APM, it differs in the second part where you are expected to write almost 6000 words in support of your level of capability across key competencies
  3. After submitting your application (and paying the first instalment of your fee) you will be invited for a 45 minute interview with two assessors. The interview will also include a 15 minute presentation. The second part of your payment is due.
  4. If successful you are accepted onto the APM Register of RPPs.

Further details and all the supporting information are available on the website – APM RPP
