R15, the online magazine for the recruitment communications industry (that’s ads to you and me) just published their top 5 ads so far for 2009, what do you think of the top spot?
It’s an ad from the DVLA – just click to see it in more detail
I think we’ve all seen our fair share of job advertisements in the weekend appointments section, the interesting thing about the top five winners were that fact that they were all public sector organisations. Now I’m not going to go down the familar line of “just how much do these innovative advertisements cost exactly?” but innovation is something I do want to pick up on.
How come the public sector’s image as an employer is still generally one of being a bit dull, bureaucratic, old fashioned and a bit of a dinosaur (especially from the younger generation) when clearly they have some of the best recruitment advertisers busily working away to change this image? Is it working? Are potential employees so easily hoodwinked into believing they’re joining a young hip happening place because the ad looks cool? The public sector has really embraced clever clogs advertising, I just hope the young bright graduates are switched on to it (and not in a cynical way!)
