Arras People is celebrating its seventh birthday all April long. The gifts - such as Monday's day of free clinics - have been passed on to project managers nationwide!
In continuing our month-long celebration of the company’s seventh birthday, Arras People hosted a day’s worth of free Project Management Careers Clinics Monday for prospective project management job candidates.
Clinics were held Monday after a fastest finger sprint of sorts earlier this month to sign up for the popular, free 30 minute telephone consultations. So quick was the response that within an hour of the clinic registration times being posted, the slots had been filled! Such is the demand for this popular resource: normally charging a small fee, candidates who have participated in the past have found the consultations provide:
- “honest, productive advice on how better I could present my skills and achievements within my CV”;
- “helped focus my mind on the types of position and at what level I should be applying for”;
- “my advisor gave a good description of current roles and what employers are looking for”.
Including Monday’s opportunities, Arras People has twice made themselves available for free Careers Clinics in the 2009 calendar year. The other free clinics came at the PMC Clinic Roadshow at the Project Challenge Spring Show 2009 in Birmingham. You can check out reflections on those two days of face-to-face consultations here, here and here.
Queries ranged from the following:
- Where can I go in project management with the experience that I have and what is the best route to get there?
- How to secure a new postion…
- I have 5 yrs wide PMO experience from outsourcing co, how can I get into consultancy type of co, who seem to require Prince 2 and security clearance.
- Advice on securing my next contract position.
While the word “free” clearly gets people’s attention (as the fastest finger race clearly proved), the feedback from paid clinics is downright praiseworthy and indicative of a tremendous value in the services our telephone clinics provide whether offered for free or for the current charge of £30. Recently, one anonymous clinic taker informed us that they had paid out a higher-end three-figure sum to have a company re-write their CV. Presented to one of our consultants, this candidate was informed that they still didn’t look any more attractive to a HR person after putting up the hefty dough for assistance.
The example displays two particular elements to careers/CV advice:
- There still exists a strong number of people seeking much needed advice for their career’s advancement
- This still holds true in bad economic times
- It doesn’t matter what you pay – it’s what you get
I could point to the Feedback & Testimonials page again, but it would only reinforce what you already know about Arras People: for project management recruitment & consultation providance you won’t find anywhere else, no one compares to us for value and service in the project management industry.
