Tuesday night afforded me the opportunity to attend another event hosted by the north west branch of the APM. The event took place in a great little pub near Manchester Airport (The Romper Inn – in case anyone was wondering). Primarily a networking evening, the event drew in 30+ APM members which was a pretty impressive turnout for a Tuesday evening in my book.
It was a great chance to get chatting to likeminded people who are passionate about Project Management and how the profession is moving forward. What was particularly good about this event was that there seemed to be a much broader demographic in attendance from the project community as a whole, not just Project Managers. It was really encouraging to see Project Support staff, Planners, Project Manager’s and even PM lecturers mingling together and chewing the fat.
Along with the ‘meet & greet’ the evening was interspersed with a short presentation from a local Programme Planner eschewing the importance of planning within any project environment.
As always, it was a useful evening and certainly something I’d recommend to those who are serious about the profession.
