2010 PMBR: Experience = An Appreciation of Finite Skills

Project Management Salary ReportHeading into 2010, project support personnel felt that technical skills (including methodology, tools and domain knowledge) were the fourth most important competency for their profession out of the 13 possible selections they were provided with, trailing – in order – Planning & Organisation, Communication Skills and Adaptability. Counter parts including project managers (sixth), change managers (eighth) and programme managers (10th), placed significantly less emphasis on the importance of that same competency.

Where, you ask, can one turn to find out such specific data directly affecting project professionals like you? The Arras People Project Management Benchmark Report, that’s where. And now, with a new year rapidly approaching, your input is again essential to determine where project management is heading in 2011.

Arras People have always been curious about the issues that affect project management professionals, with the hopes of ascertaining the mood and feeling of the industry. With that in mind, we invite you to take part in the 2011 Arras People Survey of Programme and Project Management practitioners, the only survey of its kind here in the UK.

Your contribution to the survey allows us to compile the 2011 Project Management Benchmark Report, the sixth annual report from Arras People. Targeting data including remuneration, job confidence, working patterns, and green initiatives, the Benchmark Survey ensures that your details and responses remain completely confidential. Moreover, participants in the survey have the opportunity to receive a free copy of the report upon its February 2011 release, as well as a shot at winning a free Apple iPad, the new must-have tool for the involved project professional.

For project management professionals who want to stay attuned to the status of their industry, it’s the best eight minutes you can spend.

We hope that we can count on your support to paint a picture of what happened in 2010 and also to look forward into 2011, which may again be a challenging time for some in the community. In just eight minutes, you can help set the debate on where project management stands, and where it is going.
