Project Managers provide law firms and their clients with significant benefits

Tripped over this today and nearly fell out of my chair as my experience is that lawyers and project managers often do not get on, they (the lawyers) generally assist in ensuring and even bigger and better camel. You will have to sign up (free) to see the whole article but its worth it for read that lawyers should be seen to adding value! 🙂 Article by Douglas C. Allen Thanks to Mondaq News Alerts (subcription) – London,UK … A search of the web indicates that the legal profession may only now be realizing the tremendous benefits of integrating a ...

projects and business benefits and animals

November is here and the nights have drawn in and the temperature has finally dropped. We managed to get through trick or treat mostly young kids with parents close by supervising. It looks to me like in our village treat and tricking with the older kids is not cool may be just as well with some of the news I have seen and something called mischief night (October 30th) mostly reported in scally land and looks like more harassment to me, boy am I getting old and boring! A treat for me, how about that for a link 🙂 , ...

Skills shortage over here over there going there….

Today I visited a client whose organisation has excellent growth plans; they have the contracts and can see further business development opportunities ahead. My client’s concern and challenge is that they will not find the project management resources they need in the UK. At the same time I also read in the press that Nigeria has started a process of recruiting skilled Nigerians back to Nigeria – experienced and educated staff who have come to the UK along with amongst others skilled Australians, South Africans and New Zealanders to fill the many gaps in the UK work force especially in ...

Project Management Jobs in the Public and Private Sector

Having been asked for my opinion I thought I would record it for debate – Interim Contracting jobs in the UK have started to pick up after slow numbers over July, August and September. An interesting day for project recruitment marketing

My colleague Lindsay has already discussed the BPPM show at Birmingham – not impressed I am afraid to say – I am not sure what one should get out of an exhibition – feedback from stall holders was not much foot fall but what there was has been good quality. On the drive down the M6 I started to think about what people want from an exhibition. I understand that the APM Best Practice conference gets good reviews for content in terms of speakers, papers and the opportunity to network. Project Challenge at Olympia in September had good reviews from ...

Tuh tuh another wasted few hours

Just been to the BPPM show at the NEC, had thousands of emails promoting this event over the last few months so I thought OK, I’ve not been to one for a while so I’ll go and have a look – I could be missing out on something here. Wrong. I wasn’t. The BPPM (the project management part of the event) runs alongside a software show (software for accountancy, payroll etc) and it was the smaller part of the exhibition (the project management stuff was hidden away at the back of the hall). Now the exhibition itself has a title ...

Tell us something we didn’t already know!

An article published in the Jobserve newsletter about contract work being very good for people doesn’t really tell us anything new – “Contract work is perfect for people who need to broaden their wealth of experience in different areas.” The interesting thing about this article is its timing – contract work is good for people but there’s a lack of good contract opportunities around at the moment and this has been the case for the last 4 months! Of course it could be a clever marketing ploy to get people consiciously thinking about taking on contractors again but more likely ...
