Project Management Recruitment from Arras People

Assocation for Project Management

Association for Project Management

The Association for Project Management (APM) was established in 1972.

APM’s mission statement is “to develop and promote the professional disciplines of Project and Programme Management for the public benefit”.

Implementation by APM of this mission statement is informed by APM’s intent to be “the model of a successful, modern professional organisation, pre-eminent in the fields of project and programme management”.

The mission statement is also informed by an explicit set of values developed through research undertaken amongst APM’s membership during 2004/05.  APM’s internal values require that APM should be: approachable; credible; inclusive; innovative; transparent; and that the Association should always act with integrity.  The external values identified by the membership consultation exercise determined that APM should be forward looking; leaders; recognised; professional; and influential.

APM is the largest independent professional body of its kind in Europe.

As a professional membership body, APM’s aim is to develop and promote project management across all sectors of industry and beyond.

At the heart of APM is the APM Body of Knowledge: fifty-two knowledge areas required to manage any successful project. The use of APM’s Body of Knowledge is disseminated through publications (including Project magazine, and also the subscription-only International Journal of Project Management [of which APM jointly owns 50%]); books and CD-ROMs (through APM Publishing, APM’s wholly-owned subsidiary); networking groups; APM accredited training and qualifications; events; research; e-mail; and the internet.

APM currently forms a community of around 15,500 individual and 500 corporate members in all sectors and industries, including public sector, civil engineering, financial services, retail, logistics, science and arts. APM has plans for significant future growth.
