Purpose:

Project Manager required to manage the day to day delivery of a £multi million commercial stream for our leading transportation manufacturer. Reporting at Director level you will ensure that contractual obligations are satisfied whilst at the same time achieving timescale and budgetary targets.
A Project Manager with an engineering background, you will have demonstrable experience of delivering projects within the transportation arena. Your project management and planning skills will be well developed and you will apply this to, not only achieve success, but also drive improvement. This role would suit candidates who have experience of working with heavy maintenance management (eg Rail rolling stock, marine engine) either within the civilian or military contexts. Of particular interest would be individuals with experience of the rail industry.

Functional duties to the project core team: Responsible for the WBS, Detailed Project Schedule, JDDP, Customer Interface, Risk & Opportunity Management, Project Improvement Management, Project Launch, Change Management and Contractual Obligation Management, Budget allocation and monitoring, Project Reporting internally both status and financial performance Responsible to be primary contact to divisional Project Management Office. In larger projects, this could be delegated as a separate role. Leadership duties to the Project Core Team: The Project Manager has the authority and the obligation to review the effort of the Core Team members and to give directives related to the project execution, as such will be involved in the PMP objective setting process for all Core Team members It is also the mandate of the Project Manager to define and secure the support of the business partners and extended project team Responsible for the management of all communication with the Customer Lead the Core Team effort to meet periodic financial targets The Project Manager must adapt his/her leadership and motivational skills to the project, the team members capabilities and knowledge, the time and tools available and the results desired. (S)he will develop must do strategies to increase team effectiveness and the belief that "none of us is as good as all of us.", in order to help the team go through the distinct stages of forming, storming, norming and performing.
