Permanent Satellite Systems Engineer required to support both commercial and MoD/Gov clients within our leading Telecoms client. Ideal skills will be maritime Satcom, GMDSS, GOC, Offshore Survival Certificated (BOSIET & OLF) and similar and qualifications ideally to include BTEC Electronics or equivalent
You will join an existing team providing Satellite telecoms support in various environments- anything from land based applications overseas, to rigs or luxury yachts and naval vessels. Your task will be to support Field Services for installation/commissioning and repairs UK offshore, overseas and Workshop in repairs, testing and projects activities.
In addition to your technical skills you will need to demonstrate your ability to make decisions as you must be able to assess and resolve problems on site without referral. The role will need you to manage your own time and prioritize your own tasks and daily schedules. So will be in control of your own activities when in the field, but you must also be able to make a sound and responsible judgments on tasks and manage issues as necessary in order to ensure good relationships with clients, avoid unnecessary delays and escalate issues as necessary to management.
Due to the nature of this role you must be able to achieve a National Security accreditation This role would ideally suit an ex-forces technical specialist who is looking for a challenging commercially orientated position but any person with relevant field Telecoms technical skills is welcome to apply
Key Tasks -To carry out field service and repairs on all NSSL scoped equipment & systems. To carry out standard & special to type field service installations, test & commissioning. -To liaise with customers prior to carrying out field duties. -To prepare test equipment/tools/spares/inst. materials prior to mobilisation, this may entail short notice being given. -To provide accurate and detailed technical reports for all activities and give feedback to facilitate future service planning and improvements. -To provide time sheets/expense sheets for each activity and code accordingly for charging to customer where appropriate. - To maintain inventory of materials and test equipment held and to record usage and reinstatement where appropriate. - To ensure that all returnable unused spares and/or defective spares are returned without delay using correct paperwork. -To maintain in good order and be accountable for all allocated vehicles, mobile telephones, test instruments and tools. - To organise own travel arrangements when outside Redhill base. - To ensure technical knowledge and familiarisation with company products is maintained.
